Omniva Robovan pilot reaches final round of European Business Awards

Parcel delivery and logistics provider Omniva is one of eight Estonian companies to have reached the third round of this year’s European Business Awards.

Omniva was selected for the competition based on its Robovan pilot, an innovative parcel delivery robot prototype that uses a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van as a mobile loading and transport hub for Starship delivery robots. The trial took place last summer in Tallinn, Estonia, and involved actual customers’ parcels, which would otherwise have been sent to post offices.

Omniva will now present the Robovan concept to a judging panel in London, UK, on September 7, 2018. The winners will be announced during the awards ceremony the following month on October 16, which is also being held in London. More than 110,000 companies from 34 countries have applied already to this year’s European Business Awards, with applications closing on June 15.

Joona Saluveer, chairman of the management board of Omniva, said, “With the parcel robots, we offered our customers the opportunity to test one of the delivery solutions of the future. As a logistics company, however, the pilot provided us with important feedback and information about the efficiency and feasibility of such a delivery solution. I am glad to see that our innovation is also appreciated further abroad.”

Adrian Tripp, CEO of the European Business Awards, said, “This is an amazing achievement and Omniva is clearly a stand out leader in its field. To be a National Winner means you represent our core values of success, ethics and innovation and are one of the best in Europe.”

In addition to the European Business Awards, Omniva’s Robovan pilot has already received the Estonian Logistics Project of the Year award, and the Cooperation Project of the Year title at the Tallinn Entrepreneurship Awards.
